What the Plan is!
I have sarted training and boy has it been hard! The good old british weather being as usual both unpredictable and cold! Well I suppose it was January when I started.
I am aiming to cover as many miles as possible over the coming months at all different times of the day so I can get a feel of ridding on the roads when its busy and also when its quiet. One of the first things I thought of was the risk factor so I always wear something visible and keep my lights switched on. I am planning on doing most of my training locally so might see a few of you out and about.
As my training progresses and I am more comfortable in the saddle I will be looking to make it more difficult on myself and throw in some hills and longer rides maybe a couple of times a week.
One ride in particular will be one from Seahouses back to where I live in Hebburn. This is an important ride for me as the distance will be around 60 miles and this will give me an indication how ready I am to do that distance in the saddle all in one go. I have a 53 mile ride on my first day of the event so this is why it is important!
If this works out "fingers crossed" then I know I am on track and it should be a case of increasing the millage I cover week on week nothing drastic just nice and steady so the body does'nt realise.
I am also intending to through in 1 or 2 stages of the event if possible especially the one through Shap Fell in the Lake District. This has around about 6-7 miles of peaks and troughs, through the hills and has apparently got the highest road in the country running through it Peaking at Shap itself.
After this time I intend to start doing gym work to increase muscle capacity this will give me extra resources to draw on when the going gets tough!
Any way thats the plan and hopefully it will work. Here you can view the BIKE I am training on and if nothing better arises from any where then I will be intending to do the event on.
